National Museum of Korea in Seoul
The exhibition Treasures from Chopin's Country. Polish Art from the 15th to 20th Century was presented from early February to May in the National Museum of China in Beijing as. After presentation in China, the exhibition was opened at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul, where it is displayed under a new title Polish Art: An Enduring Spirit. It contains nearly 260 objects – not only sculptures and paintings, but also handicraft items, weapons, medals and posters.
The selection of objects for the exhibition was dictated, on the one hand, by their nature typical for Polish art, on the other hand by their artistic value.
Displayed are great Polish paintings: works of Józef Mehoffer, Ferdynand Ruszczyc, Jan Stanisławski as well as Stanisław Wyspiański's stained glass Bóg Ojciec - Stań się! / God the Father - Become!, presented in the form of a monumental slide.
Closer to the present day, one may see a symbolic sculpture Tchnienie / A Breath of Air by Xawery Dunikowski, folk decorations by Zofia Stryjeńska, examples of Polish art-deco. Through the art, the new aims of creative work in times of rebirth of the Polish state after 1918, and later diversity of artistic trends of contemporary art are shown
The closing part of the exhibition presents world-famous Polish poster art. The accompanying historical information join all sections of the exhibition into an interesting, coherent story of Polish art.
