Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport, prof. Piotr Gliński, appointed Łukasz Gaweł to the position of director of the National Museum in Warsaw. The term of office will run for 5 years until November 15, 2025.
Prof. Łukasz Gaweł was the acting director of the National Museum in Warsaw from December 3, 2019. Previously, he was the deputy director of the National Museum in Cracow for strategy, development and communication and the director of the Institute of Culture of the Jagiellonian University.
He is a specialist in the management of cultural heritage and public cultural institutions. He participated in the implementation of projects financed from European funds, cooperated with several dozen cultural institutions in the field of management control, organizational audits, strategy development, and development of service standards in museums and tourist facilities.
