Muzeum Narodowe w WarszawieOn July 16th Jan Matejko’s Portrait of the artist’s three children: Tadeusz, Helena and Beata (1870) will be temporarily replaced with the same artist’s Portrait of daughter, Beata Kirchmayer neé Matejko with a canary bird (1882). The artwork is part of a group of officially styled portraits created in 1882.
Moreover, due to conservation works on the painting Sermon of Piotr Skarga (1864), the Matejko Room will be closed for visitors from the 27th of August to the 7th of September. During this time, the monumental Battle of Grunwald will remain available to see from the room’s entryway. Following renovation, Sermon... will be on loan to the Royal Castle in Warsaw until 29th of October.
Between September 10th 2018 and February 10th 2019, some of Jan Matejko’s paintings shall be loaned to “Malerfürsten” exhibition at Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn, Germany. The paintings on loan, which are Self-portrait (1892), Portrait of Teodora neé Giebułtowska (1879), Portrait of the artist’s three children: Tadeusz, Helena and Beata (1870), The Hanging of the Sigismund bell (1874) and Judgement on Matejko (1867) are going to be replaced with Bohdan Chmielnicki with Tugay Bey near Lviv (1885), Portrait of Katarzyna Potocka neé Branicka (1890), Portrait of daughter, Beata Kirchmayer neé Matejko with a canary bird (1882) and Preparatory sketch for Wernyhora (1875).
